Welcome to the website of Apex Mining Company. We’re a Philippines-based gold mining company and our main project is Maco Mine on Mindanao Island. Maco was formerly known as “Masara” but the name change was effected in recognition of the entire municipality where mining occurs rather than one particular village near the mine.

Apex has been operating for over 35 years but its management has only recently been taken over by a partnership of Crew Gold Corporation and Mapula Creek Gold Corporation Inc, a Philippines-owned mining company. Through an extensive drilling program in early 2007 indicated resources at Maco were estimated at 1,462,000 tonnes at 6.5g/t gold. Inferred resources are 9,066,000 tonnes at 6.0g/t gold. The years 2007 and 2008 are considered to be development years, with production only offficially starting in mid-December 2008. The gold recovered during commissioning in 2007 was just over 7,000 oz gold and is targeted at over 16,000 oz for 2008, while the mine is still being explored and developed and trial stoping is being carried out.

Investigations continue into the optimum mining rate for the orebodies and into the viability of recovering both copper and zinc concentrates. Early work suggests an annual production rate of 50,000 oz of gold.
